Buying real estate abroad when a family will live there
Foreign-buyer rules, schools, guarded communities, and the bank: how to search for property in another country without buying the wrong thing.
“Can a foreigner buy a house” is the search. The answer is a statute, a land registry, and sometimes a company structure counsel will or will not recommend. It is not a Facebook group.
For a family, the second filter is use. A view that is forty minutes from the only school that will take your children is a holiday house you will resent on Tuesdays. We put the school and the clinic on the map before the second viewing.
Guarded or gated communities are a specific product: security, rules, and resale. They are not automatically safer, and they are not automatically a good investment. Read that mandate if the gate is the point.
Completion fails when the bank account is not ready. Open that file early. We coordinate the sequence. The notary, the broker, and the bank do their own jobs.
