How to plan an international birth abroad

A birth abroad is a medical plan and a legal plan. Some countries give citizenship to a child born there. Most do not, and almost none give the parents citizenship because of the birth. Apichaya Brako coordinates hospital, travel, and documents. Licensed counsel says what the child and the parents can actually become.

Global Family Relocation coordinates this sequence for private families. Licensed counsel and accredited hospitals perform the legal and medical acts.

The sequence

  1. Step 1

    Define the objective

Write down why the birth is abroad: clinical care, legal status, family location, or a combination. The objective governs every later choice.

  2. Step 2

    Choose the jurisdiction

Match the objective to immigration, jus soli or registration rules, hospital quality, and the family’s language. Do this with licensed counsel — not a forum thread.

  3. Step 3

    Select the obstetric team

Shortlist accredited hospitals and a named obstetric lead, plus a backup unit. Share records early. High-risk pregnancies need this step first, not last.

  4. Step 4

    Reverse-plan the travel window

Most families travel between 32 and 36 weeks, subject to the obstetrician. Book flexible tickets, a companion plan, and a medical-diversion airport.

  5. Step 5

Secure housing and a postpartum bench

Stay within a short car ride of the delivery unit. Line up night support, lactation, meals, and a pediatric follow-up before the suitcase is packed.

  6. Step 6

Map documents before the third trimester

Passports, marriage or parentage evidence, insurance letters, hospital intake, birth registration, and the infant’s travel document all have lead times.

  7. Step 7

Run the return as a separate project

Exit stamps, pediatric clearance, extra seats, and home-country registration are their own sequence. Do not improvise them in week two of postpartum.

Typical timeline

Counted from expected week of birth. High-risk pregnancies compress this — start with the obstetric team, not the airline.

What it costs

Coordination is €2,900–€5,900. Hospital, obstetric, and legal fees are separate and paid to those providers. Birth-trip firms publish packages from about $3,500. We are for a family that lives there, or is moving there, not for a trip whose purpose is a passport. Discovery is complimentary.

Birth-abroad mandate

Questions families ask

What is the difference between a second residence and a second citizenship?

A second residence is permission to live in a country for a period, on conditions. A second citizenship is a separate, later decision by that state. Global Family Relocation coordinates the move, the home, and the school. A lawyer files. We do not sell a passport.

How do I plan an international birth abroad?

Start with why the birth would be abroad, then look at entry rules, a licensed hospital, housing near it, birth registration, the baby’s nationality, and the parents’ status. Global Family Relocation coordinates that sequence. Counsel and the hospital do the legal and medical acts. We do not promise citizenship for the parents.

How much does birth-abroad coordination cost?

The coordination plan is quoted for the country, the hospital, and how much postpartum help you want. Hospital, obstetric, and legal fees are separate and paid to those providers. We do not publish a single birth price.

Are you a law firm or a hospital?

No. Global Family Relocation coordinates. Licensed lawyers, doctors, clinics, and banks do the regulated work. We introduce them. We do not practise law or medicine, and we do not hold client money.

Can you help with citizenship and birth registration?

We choreograph the file: appointments, translations, consular windows, and document checklists. Citizenship advice and filings are delivered by licensed counsel we introduce. Outcomes depend on the family’s facts and the law of the relevant states.

How do we start?

Open a Family Brief on this site, write info.relocate2027@gmail.com, or message WhatsApp +49 170 8863495. Discovery is 60 minutes, complimentary, and confidential.

Can you get us a passport or citizenship?

No one can sell you a passport. We coordinate licensed immigration counsel for residence, naturalisation, and citizenship-by-investment programmes that actually exist. Approval is the state's decision, not ours.

What is the difference between surrogacy support and a birth abroad?

Birth abroad is a pregnancy the intended mother is carrying. Surrogacy is a pregnancy carried by someone else, and we coordinate it only where it is lawful, with a licensed clinic and counsel. Commercial surrogacy is prohibited in Germany and Thailand. We will not book either file in a country that bans it. Parentage and the child’s travel document are the hard part, and they can fail.
