Birth-abroad coordination

A birth abroad is a medical plan and a legal plan. Some countries give citizenship to a child born there. Most do not, and almost none give the parents citizenship because of the birth. Apichaya Brako coordinates hospital, travel, and documents. Licensed counsel says what the child and the parents can actually become.

What the law actually does

Citizenship of the child is not a product we sell. In a jus soli country the child may be a citizen at birth, often with conditions: a parent’s status, a minimum stay, or a ban on diplomatic births. In most of Europe, including Germany, birth on the soil is not enough. A child born in Germany to foreign parents can acquire citizenship only if a parent meets a lawful-residence test set by statute. Counsel reads the statute. We do not.

Parents do not become citizens because their baby did. A later path — residence, then naturalisation — is commonly discussed as a matter of several years, sometimes in the range of two to five and often longer. It depends on the country, income, language, integration, and a clean record. It can fail. We will not write “parents after two to five years” into a mandate as a promise.

A surrogacy birth is a different file. Even in a country with birthright citizenship, parentage may not be recognised, and the child’s travel document can stall. We only coordinate surrogacy where it is lawful. See that mandate before you mix the two.
