International adoption, explained
Adoption is a decision by authorities in two countries, often under the Hague Convention. It is slow on purpose. Anyone offering a child for a fee is someone we will not introduce you to.
Who this is for
Parents who want the lawful sequence described before they spend money. Not a fit for a private arrangement.
The authorities
Your home authority has to agree that you may adopt, and the child’s country has to agree to the placement. We do not replace either office. We explain the order and the documents they will ask for.
The home study
A home study needs a house, a civil status the authority accepts, medical letters, and police certificates. Those papers expire. We keep the order. We do not write the study.
After a placement
Only once the authorities have approved do we plan the flight, the paediatric appointments, and a school. Until then we do not book a nursery as if the child were already yours.
Questions
Can you find a child?
No. We do not place children and we do not keep a list of children.
How long does it take?
Often years. A season and a country, sold together, is an offer we will not make.
