What documents are required after an international birth?
Hospital papers, the civil registry, embassy forms, insurance, and the residence file. A checklist that is not the same in every country.

Start from the hospital discharge papers. They are not the birth certificate. They are what the civil registry consumes.
Then the local birth certificate, in the long form if your embassy wants parentage shown. Then, where your next office is outside that country, an apostille or a legalisation. Germany’s Standesamt and Brazil’s cartório do not hand you an apostille automatically. It is a further office.
Embassy forms, both passports, the marriage certificate, and passport photos are the usual consular set. Unmarried parents should ask for the acknowledgement-of-paternity step before they assume the father’s name appears.
After the passport: insurance, the residence permit or visa for the child, a tax number in countries that issue one at birth, and a vaccination record the next school or doctor will read.
We keep a list per country because the middle offices differ. The principle does not: nothing downstream exists until the local certificate does.
